Dear Friends,

Kaalagad will turn 6 this December and it's been quite a bumpy ride most of the way, resources wise. As an ecumenical organization run mainly by volunteers and, at present, four modestly paid full timers, we are happy to say though that the things we have seen are well worth the practical difficulties.

In 2001, it afforded us a ringside view as we stood side by side a people who will not take a corrupt presidency sitting down.  At present, we are at it again, alongside many others who are reluctant to short sell their principles.  For our part, the Gospel that Jesus preached and the life he invites us to imitate have been our cornerstone and measuring stick.  In God’s grace, we refuse to succumb to fakery, opportunism, discouragement and hopelessness.  Instead, we embrace and celebrate the liberating witness of the Gospel as we try in our humble and limited way to help transform society following Christ’s example.

We have seen our understanding and analysis of realities evolve as we ventured into various fields of engagement.  We have spent countless hours tweaking and fine tuning our views, and the basis of our views, in order to present a viable and workable platform with which to make a holistic sense of history – making us realize that injustice and strife happen everyday and everywhere, in lonely as well as in crowded places; in ecology, in genders, in economics and in the beliefs of peoples; in science, culture and politics, in families, in local, national and global communities, in government, business, media, schools, churches and civil society.

We hope you can find time to visit us and take a closer look at some of the things we do. Some of them are simple projects (a feeding program, a cooperative, an ecology module..) while others are a bit complex (anti-mining lobby, resisting US aggression, taking to task a corrupt president..).  All the same, they are the very wellsprings that nourish our hopes.

Thank you so much for your time. In service and in solidarity,
